Can you earn a part-time income writing from home even though you’re not a great writer? You bet!  If you haven’t heard of the blogging community, Hubpages.com, then you need to check it out.  Hubpages is an online community of “authors” or “Hubbers” that earn money by publishing Hubs on topics that they know and love, or researched in order to present content-rich information to others.

WHAT ARE HUBPAGES?

Hubpages has an underlying revenue infrastructure that enables authors to earn money by publishing their Hubs.  Hubbers sign up for free affiliate accounts with Google, Amazon, eBay, and Kontera.  Ads can then be placed on their Hubs.  If ads are clicked on (in the case of Google, and highlighted words from Kontera), Hubbers earn money.  In addition, Hubbers earn money if items are purchased through eBay and Amazon from relevant links placed on their Hubs.  The only downside is that Hubpages takes 40% of the Hubbers’ earned revenue.  That leaves 60% for you, the Hubber.  However, some average Hubbers are earning between $500-$1,000 per month!

You can also take advantage of Hubpages affiliate program.  When people you refer to Hubpages signup within 30  days, and use Hubpages’ revenue-generating tools, you’re entitled to an additional 10% of a Hub’s impressions.

NOTABLE HUBBERS

I personally started out blogging on Hubpages and have published 15 hubs to date.  Feel free to check out my Hubpages Profile here.  There are Hubbers who have published hundreds of Hubs on a variety of topics and make some decent part-time money from it.  One such Hubber is known as “JimmytheJock.”  He recently published a Hub where he states that he earned over $350 from his Hubs in the month of November.  Yes, Jimmy has written a lot of Hubs; as of today, he has 694 published Hubs.  That’s a lot of Hubs!  Can you make more money with less Hubs?  Of course.  Even JimmytheJock says that you can.

Another notable Hubber is Maddie Ruud.  She is the Community Manager of HubPages. She made over $100 in a single day from Adsense revenue from her Hub titled, “The Truth about Wu-Yi Tea.   Apparently, this Hub was written over a year ago. If you go to Google and type “Wu-Yi Tea,” her Hub is the first entry on the first page for that search term (that’s not a sponsored link).

WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL HUBBER?

What makes a successful Hubber?  One that can provide great, unique content-filled Hubs that attract readers.  What makes a successful MONEY-MAKING Hubber?  One that can provide great, unique content-filled Hubs that attract readers AND can be monetized.  An example of this would be reviews of products that can be found on Amazon and eBay.  Also, you have to be consistent.  You can’t write 1 or 2 Hubs and sit back and wait for the money to roll in.  Hubpages is not a get-rich quick website.  Like I said above, average Hubbers can earn between $500-$1,000 a month if they publish on a regular basis and provide great articles filled with information that people are hungry for.
