It’s Time To Turn Your Books Into Money!

I came across a great article today on instructables.com. It was a “how to” on turning a book into a clock.

I was especially taken with this article because as some of you know, I sell used and new books online. If you know anything about selling books online, then you know you have to have a large inventory of books in order to have sale orders coming in on a regular basis. The reason you have to have so many books is because many of the books will not sell immediately, or unfortunately…ever.

I have great books that have been in my inventory for a couple of years. It’s sad but true. I call them great books because they may be about an obsure topic, or they have great illustrations, or they’re just really old and would be considered antiques.

I tend to decorate a lot with these great books. I place stacks of older books on my coffee and accent tables throughout the house. I then place an objet d’art on top of the stack to give some height to that accessory. But like I said, I have a lot of great books.

I never thought about doing anything else with these books except in certain circumstances, removing great, colored illustrations from books that are in the public domain, and selling them on eBay. However, I got really inspired when I read the Literary Clock article. I now know what I can do with many of the unique books that are collecting dust in my inventory.
