Want to know a great story that would make a great e-book? It’s yours! That’s right–your story. Believe it or not, we all have a story a tell and chances are, there are a lot of people out there that would love to hear about it.
Are you someone that’s looking to earn some money on the internet and thought about selling an e-book? Or are you just looking to give away an e-book on your blog or website to attract subscribers to your e-newsletter? If you are, but can’t think of anything to write about, and you don’t want to sell or give away a private label rights (PLR) product, keep reading.
I talk to people all the time who want to make some extra money from home but haven’t found anything that appeals to them, or they think they have to invest too much time away from their kids or away from their home in order to make this extra money. Nine out of ten times, after talking to them, I find that they have a story to tell about something in their life that they are either very knowledgeable about, or have had experience with that other people would pay for to learn from them.
For instance, I have a friend who has lived on three different continents and has a great amount of experience traveling, moving and settling down in a new country with kids. You know what that means. You have to find schools, doctors, dentists, playgroups, etc. Even if she had help in finding all of these things, others would want to know how and where she got this help! She could probably write a 100 plus page e-book filled with information that could help families facing a transcontinental move. Not only that, she is funny and would fill the book not only with detailed checklists, but lots of humor and funny stories.
I also have a neighbor who has turned a hobby of fixing up old pinball machines and video games into a real business. How many people do you think would devour that information?! I’m sure there are plenty of men out there that would love to learn how this former marketing executive turned his fun-filled hobby into a money-making venture.
I never thought I would turn my story, which is my love for finding deals and making money from home, into an e-book that I give away for free on this blog, but I did.
So what’s your story? You know you have one. Funny thing is, once you identify it, you probably will get excited about sharing it. Chances are you will be pretty passionate about it. It could be something that you have years of experience with, or something that happened to you over a brief amount of time.
Are you a travel guru? Do you know how to handle a travel crisis like when all the flights to your city get canceled because of a fast-moving blizzard approaching the east coast? Who do you call? How do you get home before you’re stranded?
Do you plan awesome kids parties without spending much money? I know lots of moms who would love to get their hands on information that could tell them how to do that!
Did you join a local Zumba class and lose 30 pounds? How did you do this? Did you change your diet too? What did you eat? How many days a week did you go? Did you have a friend attend the classes with you? People want to know!
See where I’m going with this? So you’re saying to yourself, “that’s great but I don’t want to write it myself.” You can get someone else to write it from one of the freelance websites online like elance.com (just Google freelancers for hire and you’ll easily find information on where to hire a freelancer who will charge you to write your story). However, I suggest you write it yourself. It’s your story and it will have your personal touch. You could also get a friend to help you. Maybe someone that has some knowledge about internet marketing. You can tell him or her your story and they can help you write it. When it’s done, the two of you can share in the profits.
Picking your topic should be fun. Writing about something you know should make the process easier. It could take one day to write, or two weeks to write. However the more passionate you are about your topic, the easier it will be to finish your e-book.
