How To Make Money At Home With a Cricut Expression Personal Electronic Die Cut Machine

by Melissa on August 15, 2011

The Cricut Expression Personal Electronic Die Cut Machine is a cutting machine for scrapbooks, classroom decor, signage, and more.  However, used the right way, it can also be a tool to help you succeed in making money at home.

If you enjoy the hobby of scrapbooking (or even if you don’t but are interested in how a die cut machine can help you earn extra money), and long to turn this hobby into a money-making venture but not sure how to do it, look no further than to your Cricut Expression machine and your own imagination.

Just grab a cup of coffee (regular please), eat some chocolate (that’s right, if you don’t know this already, these two things together will explode your creative brain juices) and start thinking of all the things you can make with your Cricut Expression machine that people would pay money for.

You could make greeting cards, or stencils that could be used on hand painted furniture, or on garden items like flower pots, benches, tables, slates, and more. You could also make adhesive vinyl decorations that can be used on painted walls in children’s rooms.  My favorites are different-sized butterflies for a girls bedroom, and sports balls for a boys bedroom.

You can check mega websites such as eBay and Etsy to find out what other sellers are charging for their die cut creations. You will want to price your items accordingly and it’s important to check out the marketplace for similar items before you start listing them for sale.  You may find out that there is little profit to be made for a particular product, and not worth it for you to consider making.

You can also check your local consignment shops to see if anyone else has similar items as to what you want to create with your Cricut Expression machine.  If you do notice similar items, that doesn’t mean you can’t make them too.  Just make yours a little bit more unique.  Let them reflect your own personal style.  Perhaps you can even charge a bit more if you embellish your creations more than your competitor.

Also, your local craft shows are a great way to see if your items are popular. If they are popular offline, chances are, they will be popular online.  Just remember, if you do decide to sell on eBay and/or Etsy, make sure you use the popular keywords to attract visitors to your auction or listing.  It’s imperative that you get this part right.  See what keywords others are using in their auctions or listings to attract buyers.  You will want to use these same popular keyword phrases too.

The projects you can make with a Cricut Expression Die Cut Machine are pretty much endless. You are only limited by your imagination.

Are you stuck for ideas? Just ask family members and friends to brainstorm with you. Make a list of all the things you could possibly make with your machine and sell for a profit. Don’t have a Cricut Expression machine? Check Amazon’s prices. They are almost always discounting these machines. My favorite is the Cricut Expression 290300.  It’s got everything you need to start profiting from your craft now!
