Want Easy Things To Sell On eBay? Try Bottle Cap Art!

While on vacation at the Jersey Shore with my kids, we were faced with a rainy day dilemma–what should we do?  Of course the kids are always up for a walk to the local beach town to a really cool toy store that has well, really cool toys.

It was here that I found a book by Klutz called Capsters.  This simple book had everything you need to transform boring bottle caps into really cool art.  All you do is take a bottle cap (a handful are provided with this book), add the included punch-out art, a charm, craft gems or glitter, use the special glue to make your creation permanent.  Finished projects make terrific backpack danglers, fridge magnets, and jewelry.

I bought the book for my daughter and we came back to the house and made “capsters” for a good part of the afternoon. Actually, we used up all the bottle caps and the epoxy that was included with the book.  We had a blast, and it got me thinking about the potential of bottle cap art as a product to sell on eBay.  The supplies are cheap, and the shipping is easy and inexpensive.

I looked up bottle cap magnets and jewelry on eBay and found quite a few listings (see the real-time listings below):

The punch-out designs that came with the book are cool, however, if you want to sell bottle cap art on eBay, you’re going to have to find images that sell.

Where To Find Bottle Cap Images
One place you can get bottle cap images, is from purchasing images from sellers online. A lot of sellers will offer a .pdf file that you can download immediately after paying, and print out your images on photo paper. The most popular paper sizes for this type of printing are 4×6, and 8×11 1/2. The seller should tell you what size photo paper you will need.

Another place you can find images for your bottle cap art and jewelry, is by doing a search on Google for “royalty free images.” I found quite a few websites listed on Wikimedia that have royalty free images you can use for your own personal use, as well as for commercial purposes.

You’re only limited by your imagination when it comes to finding images. You can use scrapbook paper, old postcards, notecards, or your own creations.

Putting It All Together

Once you have your bottle caps and your images that you are confident will sell well on eBay, you need some directions on how to complete your bottle cap art. Whether you want to make bottle cap magnets, bottle cap jewelry, or some other kind of bottle cap creation to sell on eBay, enough information to complete your project can be found on the internet. Just Google what it is you want to make, and there will be plenty of articles and YouTube videos to help you out.

You are going to need some additional materials, but the project you choose to follow should have a list of materials you will need.

Bottle cap art is definitely an easy thing to sell on eBay, but it’s also a great craft to sell at craft shows and flea markets.  Don’t forget to get your kids involved!  Maybe they could even sell some bottle cap jewelry to their friends.  What twelve-year-old girl wouldn’t want a Justin Beiber bottle cap necklace!?

hello, i have a bunch of bottle cap art also! but they are images that i have drawn and some have things inside the bottlecap. I have collected so many, I don’t know what to do with them. Its hard to sell them because I have so many, and I mostly want a good home for them.
