AN EBAY POWERSELLER WORTH FOLLOWING
I have read a lot of eBay Powerseller secrets over the years, but one Powerseller stands out from all the rest. His name is Jim Cockrum. I’ve posted about Jim Cockrum before in,Is There Really A Silent Silent Sales Machine On eBay /a> Jim is the author of this infamous e-book that could just possibly be the most downloaded e-book EVER on the internet, and surely, the greatest eBay e-book ever written. No, Jim didn’t pay me to say that, it’s just that I’ve read a lot of material on the internet (and I mean A LOT), and have purchased and downloaded my share of e-books, and The Silent Sales Machine Hiding On eBay is probably the best one I’ve ever read.
I’m not trying to get you to buy Jim’s book (although you should if you haven’t read it and if you have any type of business on the internet). I’m trying to lend credibility to the author (once again) because he’s extremely successful on the internet and I tend to listen to what he says, and follow what he does.
He is one of few eBay Powersellers that actually reveals their secrets. And most of the time he does it for free. He makes videos and shares his thoughts and experiences both on his blog, JimCockrum.com, and on his membership only site, SilentSalesTeam.com.
DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR EBAY ABOUT ME PAGE WITH THIS EBAY POWERSELLER’S SECRET TECHNIQUE
The technique that I just learned from Jim, is the technique that helps drive traffic to your eBay About Me page from an auction page. I normally just use a bold, clickable link that’s written to catch my auction visitor’s eye. The method I use works, but Jim’s is so much better!
Ebay allows members to use videos in their auctions as long as it relates to the product they’re selling. What Jim does, is use a screen shot of his video on his auction page that directs visitors to his About Me page where the actual video resides. He just uses the “print screen” key on the keyboard to the right of the F12 key to take a snapshot of the video, and uses Microsoft Paint to crop it. The end result looks something like this (I picked one of my videos about a face painting designs product I promote):
I actually use Jing, free software that lets you capture and crop images from anything you’re looking at on the internet. Jing lets me eliminate having to use Paint to crop an image (you can also use it to make simple videos. I used it to make the face painting small designs video mentioned above) because with Jing, you select what you want to capture on the screen, and it automatically crops your selection. The print screen function on your computer that Jim Cockrum talks about, captures the whole screen. They both work equally as well. However, if you want to cut out that one step of having to go to Paint to crop, then use Jing.
Jim then inserts a code that makes the image clickable–sending visitors to his About Me page. That’s where he can say anything about his business, promote services and products, include opt-in forms, and other clickable links that may or may not be directed to affiliate products. The eBay About Me page is where you are allowed to do all of this! Now check it out. You can click on the image that looks like a video and it will take you to my eBay AboutMe page:

However, if I was inserting this in my eBay auctions, I would make sure that the actual video was on my About Me page. You don’t want to “trick” people into thinking you have a video for them to watch, and then not deliver. Click here for eBay’s exact video link policy.

My eBay About Me page includes my background, some links to blog posts, as well as an opt-in form for my newsletter. I’m sure I can do a better job with it, but I’ve definitely found that people get to my blog through the links placed on my About Me page.
Now with this eBay Powerseller secret revealed, I’m positive that I’ll drive more traffic to my eBay About Me page–exactly where I want the traffic to go! Now all I have to do is list auctions more consistently. It’s a waste not using this traffic-generating technique 100% of the time!
