I wrote a post the other day about how I bartered with the guys at ASellerTool for a free monthly membership to their book scouting service in exchange for a weekly series about the things I find with their nifty tool such as used books, CD’s, DVD’s and toys to sell on Amazon.
I’m pleased to report that Stanley over at ASellerTool wrote to me yesterday to tell me that they accepted my barter trade proposal. In this barter trade proposal, I also offered to include a mention about the ASellerTool book scouting tool in my highly ranked post, “Selling Used Books On Amazon For Profit–Great Home Business!“ In fact, as of today, this post is ranked #1 out of 102,000,000 competitors on Google for select keywords–even ranking higher than Amazon itself (Amazon is #2 and #3).
I’m excited to start this ASellerTool series (please read my post, “Use This Tool To Make Money Selling Books, DVD’s, & CD’s” to familiarize yourself with what ASellerTool is and what it does for book scouting). It should be fun. Once a week I’ll write a post about what profitable items I find with the ASellerTool that I can resell on Amazon. Of course, I probably will check prices at eBay, Half.com and Craigslist on the items I find to see if I can get a higher return at one of these other sites.
What I’m also excited about is the fact that ASellerTool now checks prices on toys selling on Amazon. This brings a whole new dimension to book scouting (or toy scouting if you want to call it that). I haven’t “toy scouted” yet, but no better time to do that than the summer time when the kids are home! I told my kids that we will be visiting our local thrift stores on occassion this summer to check out the toys they have for sale. Do you think they gave me a hard time about that?!
Anyway, I thought I could get them involved in this adventure. The ASellerTool is so easy to use, even my five-year-old could use it. All she will have to do is listen for one of two different sounds after she scans a toy (Or a book, CD, or DVD–my guess is, she will stick to the toys!). One sound means the toy could most likely be sold at a profit at Amazon (as per the criteria I set on my PDA and how much my local thrift store charges for the toy), and the other sound means we should pass on that toy (again, depending on the criteria I set).
I will report in my weekly series what “goodies” we find over the past week and what they sold for on Amazon, eBay, Craigslist or some other venue (that is if they were sold. It may take some time for some items to sell).
Selling used books, DVD’s, CD’s and or toys from home is a great way to earn a part-time income with a REAL work at home opportunity. Whether or not it’s with the ASellerTool–anyone can do this and it’s fun!
Once you do this for a while, your instincts kick-in for what will sell and what won’t sell. However, it doesn’t hurt to be at least a little informed before you start out selling used books. I like the information that Skip McGrath has put together. His book, “Sell Used Books On eBay, Amazon.com and The Internet For Profit” is a great tool to get you started. It’s well worth the low price he charges–which is approximately the price of a new hard back book– because with just one book “find” you will have made your money back.
