I don’t usually talk about making money online because simply–everyone else does. I try to bring REAL work at home jobs or income opportunities to my readers that actually work and can put money in your pocket within 24 hours to one week. Obviously selling on eBay or Amazon or on Craigslist are simple ways to do that. However, I found a way to make a little extra money (or a lot depending on how much time you put into it) online that requires NO website of your own.
It does revolve around eBay so you will need an eBay account if you don’t have one. In my opinion, EVERYONE should have an eBay account. Whether you buy or sell–eBay has awesome deals for those looking for specific items, and offers a great place for those looking to sell their items. Anyway, you need to have an eBay account
and you have to have something to sell that will get a lot of visitors to that auction. Sorry, there’s no way around this.
What Should I Sell?
Auctions for designer brand clothing, popular electronics, designer handbags, popular collectibles, items from popular stores like Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn etc. attract a lot of attention. These types of things will get people looking. The primary goal here is not making money from your auction–just breaking even is your goal. Anything on top of that is icing on the cake! You’re basically using your eBay About Me page as a free advertising tool. If you can make money from your auctions too (I try to do this), then more power to you.
The Goal
The goal with your auction is to drive people to look at your About Me page on eBay where you can advertise a link or links to other pages outside of eBay. You can’t do it on your auction page–it has to be done on your About Me page. However, you can put a link on your auction page TO your About Me page so that your visitors will be sure to visit.
Your text link on your auction page to your About Me page should be at the top of your auction, and be enticing enough for people to want to click on it. Remember, your goal is to get your visitors to your About me page. My text link on my auction pages reads:
I know people are clicking on this link and going to my About Me page where I advertise my blog. I know this because my blog statistics tell me where my traffic is coming from so I can see that people are coming from my About Me page on eBay. Pretty cool, huh?
What To Advertise
I advertise my blog, some of my favorite blog posts, and a sign-up form for my newsletter. I also entice people to sign up for my newsletter by giving them a FREE download of an ebook titled, “Guide To Cashing In On eBay.” However, you can use your About Me page for advertising anything–another website, your offline business, your auctions, or an affiliate product.
Advertising Affiliate Products
A cool way to make extra money is by advertising an affiliate product on your About Me page. You can go to Clickbank.com, one of my favorite affiliate product promotion sites, and register for free and start promoting any of the hundreds of affiliate products on their website. Pick one out that you like, and promote the affiliate link on your eBay About Me page.
Be sure to make your About Me page look nice. I used an eBay About Me template that was free from ShipScript.com.
What To Do With Ugly Affiliate Links
I also recommend cloaking your affiliate link so it’s not so obvious you’re promoting an affiliate product. When you sign up for an affiliate product to promote at Clickbank, you will get your own affiliate link with your username or “nickname” embedded in the url. Take this link and go to OffTo.net, a free affiliate cloaking service, and plug in your long affiliate link and a nice, short, non-affiliate looking link will be created for you.
You’re now all set to make a good-looking eBay About Me page, launch some auctions, and promote some money-making affiliate links. Remember, the key to all of this is traffic to your auctions, and an enticing enough link on all of your auctions that will get people clicking over to your About Me page where you have your affiliate link offer (or whatever else you’re advertising).
