What Does A Social-Media Marketer Do?
Interactive media is a great promotional tool and companies large and small are catching on. However, they need people that have figured out how to capture all the new technology out there and that know how to make it work via covert campaigns like OfficeMax’s ElfYourself.com and Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty. A social-media marketer knows how to build communities around products, and if you have this skill, then you can offer it up to the many companies looking to round out their marketing efforts.

According to “Women’s Health” magazine, the annual salary for a social-media marketer falls in the range of $113,000-$144,000.
How Do You Land A Job As A Social-Media Marketer?
The best thing you can do to gain credibility to land a job as a social-media marketer is to build up an online community through a website or a blog of your own. Start building an audience through places like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and MySpace. Upload videos from YouTube, and get familiar with RSS readers and all the latest technology. In addition, gain some knowledge on what’s legal and ethical in Web publishing. News University (newsu.org), an outgrowth of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, offers a free online course called Online Media Law.
