Write It Down, Make It Happen!

Write It Down, Make It Happen!

Write It Down, Make It Happen!

I wrote a post recently about the secret of writing down your personal mission statement. Writing things down have a magical way of coming true. It has happened over and over again to people who have listed their goals or wishes and mysteriously find that what they have written somehow jumps from the paper and into their lives.  Examples of this can be found in a book I just picked up today at Barnes & Noble titled, “Write It Down, Make It Happen: Knowing What You Want And Getting It” by Henriette Anne Klauser.

I love hearing about how people make their dreams come true.  The method of just writing want you want down on paper and it’s yours is too good to deny! I had this happen to me like I explain in the “Secret of Writing Down Your Personal Mission Statement.”  So yesterday at Barnes & Noble, not only did I buy “Write It Down, Make It Happen: Knowing What You Want And Getting It,” but I also bought a brand new journal (a very cool one I might add), to lay the groundwork for this year’s goals.

On my way home from the bookstore, I started listening to Stephen Covey’s “Leader In Me.”  I bought the book on CD since I’m always in the car.  I’m a fan of Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and I wanted to hear what he had to say about raising children into the leaders of tomorrow.  When I got home, I thought I would check out the book’s website.  I was poking around there for a while which led me to the main website, stephencovey.com where if you join the “community,” which is free, you have access to a goal setting log where you can write down your goals and even get friends on board to help you stick to your plan.

How many other “experts” talk about the effectiveness of writing down your goals?  Too many to count!  So I guess there’s something to it.  So what are you waiting for!?

I personally like the old fashion way of taking pen to paper in a journal and having access to my goals at all times.  Whatever you decide to use to keep track of your goals, just make sure they’re written down and not just bouncing around in your head. Referencing the book, “Write It Down, Make It Happen: Knowing What You Want And Getting It,” writing it down gets you out of the fantasy mode and into a commitment.

“There is a solidity in actually committing it to paper,” says author, Henriette Klauser on page 147 of her book, “It is a physical thing to put it on paper…writing it down is a commitment.”
